Spellbreak map plus#

Players take control of magic users known as battlemages, and they can customize their powerful arsenal of spells and even combine them for more devastating effects. While most other battle royale games focus on shooting people with guns, Spellbreak is firmly rooted in a medieval fantasy setting. But indie studio Proletariat thinks its new action-packed multiplayer game, Spellbreak, has a good chance of standing out. The battle royale genre has become crowded over the last few years with hits like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). But all up I think it's a really fun experience with quick and satisfying rounds. I want to start on a totally level playing field, and know that my run was based more on skill than someone starting with better buffs. Unlocking buffs that you character has access to in new games as you level up can make things feel unfair, because you know that other players may have already have better powers than you. However I'm generally not a fan of persistent levelling in online competitive games. It's almost like it balances out the need to have great aim with the ability to maneuver your way through a skirmish, and I loved how tense and exciting it made things. Being able to dash and levitate made for some frantic fights that lasted a while. RAD To me the movement and mobility is what sets Spellbreak apart. I'm sure there's strategies to learn, but I just wasn't that drawn in. Sadly though, victories often feel like they're rewarded to whoever got the first shot in - which again, really takes away the thrill of the fight. I’m sure, jumping into a fight with a perfectly matched team, we'd be unstoppable. Admittedly, the idea of centring combat on spells is pretty fun and unique.īeing able to chain together spell types to produce more damage and additional effects is brilliant. I just run around until I find someone, fire off some spells whilst jumping about and that's it. It doesn’t feel like it’s been designed for strategic play, so fights end up feeling haphazard. I just wasn't a big fan of the game's map. I'm giving Spellbreak 4 out of 5 rubber chickens. But outfits aside, I had lots of fun solo but it's even better with friends. I'll admit, I spent a few dollars to get something a tiny bit fancy, but in general there aren't that many cool options. Instead, you can earn or purchase gold to spend on skins. Unlike other free-to-play online competitive games, there's no battle pass with which to unlock cosmetic items. You know me, I'm all about looking good out there on the battle field.

Plus using magic is always going to be more fun to me than a bunch of gun type weapons. But I didn't feel out of my depth which encouraged me to experiment and find what worked. Was I pulling them off well? Absolutely not. They're easily identifiable so you know what you're looking at from a glance, and I loved the combo spells you could do. GEM I'm a sucker for magic, so the variety of gauntlets had me hooked.

RAD I'm pretty proud of our efforts! Now, we've all been playing quite a bit of this - I want to know your most and least favourite thing. So, I better squad up with team GGSP and break some spells! This is made to be played online, either solo or in squads. As the game goes on, a storm causes the map to get smaller and smaller, forcing the players closer together. Similar to other battle royale games, you’re dropped into a map with a bunch of other players, and fight to be the last person standing.
